Backstory

I'm fat. Really really fat. And for far too long I've ignored that fact. I am so dedicated to blissful ignorance that I managed to pretty much ignore a Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis in January 2007. It was a whole lot harder to ignore a breast cancer scare last month, so I've decided that I have to take some sort of action, because I don't want a 3rd health scare, thanks so very much.

I have PCOS, whioch contributes a bit to my weight, but mainly I have a high level addiciton to crappy food and crummy eating habits, at least when left to my own devices with no audience of little kids to witness my poor habits. Little kids? Yes, because I'm a nanny. Supposed to be a good role model, and all that jazz. Not succeeding so much on that front.

Also, to somewhat paraphrase one of my favorite authors, Jen Lancaster, I may be 40, and I may be frumpy, but I'll be damned if I am going to surrender to the trifecta of 40, fat, and frumpy.

I also have this whacky urge to adopt, and it would be good to be in decent shape to chase a kid around 24/7.

So, here's my journey to a healthier life, along with comments about the world in general, occasional (ok, frequent!) snark, and my adoption quest.
